Antique Americana
Show & Sale
History of the Show
The California Country Show was started in 1986 by two friends, Bea Teer and Lori Moore, as a way to raise money for the Los Altos History Museum. From it's inception the show focused on premiere Americana and invited only the top American Country antique dealers from the west coast to participate. The first shows were held "Under the Oaks" surrounding the Los Altos History House and quickly became known for the quality of the antiques available for sale as well as the wonderful location.

Los Altos is 36 miles south of San Francisco and 3 miles from Stanford University. The Town is blessed with natural beauty, great weather and sophisticated surrounds. The collectors come from everywhere, as do the participating dealers. Beginning in the 1990's, due to popular demand, the show became a twice-a-year event held in June & October. Until recently, the June show continued "under the oaks" surrounding the Los Altos History House while the October show was held across the parking lot from the History Museum in the Hillview Community Center. Recently the History Museum completed construction on a multi-million dollar addition. Due to lack of space surrounding the History Museum, both the Spring & Falls shows are now held inside and in the courtyards surrounding four buildings at the Hillview Community Center. In June 2000, Tom Baker, a well-known and highly regarded Americana dealer, took over the promotion of the California Country Show from Bea & Lori. The Los Altos shows continue to be a fundraiser for the Los Altos History Museum.

In February 2004, Tom expanded California Country to include an additional show in southern California. The show was held in Hollywood and was a big success. Tom proved that there is thriving interest in Ameican Country and Folk Art in southern California. Building on the success of the Hollywood show, a southern California show was held at the Orange County Fair and Events Center in Costa Mesa, CA on March 11-12, 2006. Despite exceptionally crazy weather (snow in LA?!), the show was a smashing success. Expect to see California Country to return to Costa Mesa in early March 2007!
